THE FOUNDATION

The Brian Reed Foundation is formed by many supportive friends and families. This Foundation is a way to reach out for the support of others to fund the expenses for this rare cancer, to share resources, listen, and hope to find a treatment. Brian Reed was diagnosed in September 2002 with a neuroendocrine thymic carcinoid tumor located around his heart. He is one of less then 150 documented cases in the world. We hope to bring more resources and be a positive force to help other patients.

Brian’s team of doctors at Sloan Kettering know that at some point he'll need either chemo, an investigational drug, or a clinical trial. It is uncertain when he'll take the next step or what it will be. It depends upon what is available when that point is reached. Brian sees several doctors in DC as well as NYC to coordinate his care. Many of the tests, treatments, and drugs are not completely covered, by his insurance. As a result, the Reed's spend a lot of out of pocket money to cover these expenses. These costs will continue for the foreseeable future. The money we raise will help the Reed's with these expenses, as well as travel/hotel costs for NYC and possibly travel expenses to Europe where there is a potential treatment available.
